The mission of NWFASA is to create a unifying environment of youth and student led and/or oriented organizations in the Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on Filipino and Filipino American culture, in which educational, political, cultural, and social advancement are promoted through various activities and events. NWFASA shall strive to foster a sense of community, provide opportunities to further self-awareness and cultural knowledge, as well as promote awareness and support the social welfare of the greater Filipino and Filipino American community.
From the begi nning
Formerly known as the Washington State Filipino American Student Alliance, “The Alliance” was established in 1995 by Filipino student organizations from Washington universities. The Alliance has grown to 19 member organizations from different campuses in Washington and Oregon. In 2003, “The Alliance” has been renamed to be called the Northwest Filipino American Student Alliance (NWFASA).
Each year, NWFASA puts together a regional conference that brings out all our organizations in the Northwest. The conference itself is a weekend-long event for student groups to gather and learn about leadership, networking, and team building. It enables students to build a strong and unified community between all participating organizations, increases education and awareness, and promotes student activism and involvement.
