CWU FASA "CWU FASA will strive to improve the educational and social aspects of the Central Washington University campus and surrounding communities of Filipino culture."
What are you up to? CWU is currently striving to diversify and leave our cultural footprint in Ellensburg. By volunteering for various events such as serving Filipino food at the food banks; CWU FASA accomplishes our intersectional identities and shares it with the Ellensburg community at large. We work to educate the Central campus by hosting language, educational, dance, and cooking workshops all while fostering a family environment. |
SISTERHOOD OF PI NU IOTA "The Sisterhood of Pi Nu Iota is a Filipinx-interest sisterhood at the University of Washington and Seattle University, officially founded in Spring 2005. We aim to fortify the Filipina through our pillars of academic excellence, community service, cultural awareness, and womxn empowerment. We also aim to contribute to the communities we are a part of, specifically the Asian and Pacific Islander community, and bring awareness to our philanthropy of children’s literacy.
Our motto is "Matatag Na Babae:" Strong Womxn We, the Ates of the Sisterhood of Pi Nu Iota, strive to fortify the Filipina and the communities that they share. We build each other up to create a more cohesive and positive community. We are a shoulder to cry on, a rock to hang on to, a friend to confide in, and a force to be reckoned with. We are sisters. Learn more about us on our new website at pinuiota.com!" What are you up to? Rush SZN! We hosted our UW rush week events during the first week of October, and are currently hosting SU rush week the second week! This year's theme: "A Whole Nu World" for welcoming potentials for our Nu class this year. Fall Children's Literacy Event: coming up in November! The Ates will be hosting a quarterly mini Literacy Jamboree (LJ) for the children in our community in efforts to expand our LJ programming to year-round. We will be providing arts and crafts, books to read, hot cocoa, and a movie for kids and their parents to enjoy on a cold, autumn evening! "Under the Sampaguita Flowers: A Celebration of 15 years of Pi Nu Iota" - currently planning for our 15-year celebration which is coming up next year on May 29, 2020! Save the date! PNI Annual Bonfire - hosted at Ate Claudia, Ate Nicole, and Ate Cherry's house back in September. Roasted marshmallows and had a wholesome fall evening with the Ates to kick-off our 15th year. Thank you to all who showed up and supported! ❤ |
alliance meetings Have you still not been to an alliance meeting yet? They’re every month! In June we visited Seattle U, Central Washington in July, and Portland State in September! Each meeting was a great opportunity for the schools to get together, communicate about events within the alliance, and decide on our future. At the September meeting hosted by Portland State, one highlight was a workshop organized by Mika, our Political Pillar Chair and member of Anakbayan Seattle, about the history of martial law since the Marcos Regime leading up to Duterte’s current rule. Many of those that attended the meeting also joined in the march for World Peace Day, also marking the anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines.

leadership retreat Instead of the usual alliance meeting, August was set aside for the leadership retreat! This was an event specifically made for officers of all the organizations in NWFASA to disconnect from their usual routines and reconnect with the rest of the alliance. This year, the 2-day retreat took place in Lewis & Clark State Park in Washington, and was an opportunity for the members to better understand the goals and future actions of our organization. We hope everyone had a fun weekend!

org dues Organization dues have been calculated and will be sent out in an upcoming email. These dues go to supporting the alliance and allow us to continue thriving, but as of now there are no set budget plans for which these dues will specifically go to. Per our open agenda discussion, if there are ideas in which you’d like for dues to be allocated to, (ex. Fil-O, Conference, Kabataan Alliance dues) please feel free to email us at nwfasa.info@gmail.com or reach out to Adrianna Zan with your suggestions. Please have these dues paid for by the January Alliance meeting which can be done via in person with cash or via Venmo.

fahm stickers Kain tayo! Have you been following our FAHM series on IG that showcase some of our favorite Filipino meals? Have you seen the cute designs that our one of our Oregon Advisors, Abby Pasion, made? These dishes illustrated by Abby were sold as stickers at the October Alliance Meeting and they quickly sold out. If you missed out on getting one, or two, or the whole set, don’t worry! We’re planning a limited re-release at Fil-O at UW-Tacoma next month. In order to better plan ahead, please fill out an interest form so that we can know how many stickers to make!
