the filipino american student association at central washington universityThank you so much to all the work that CWU FASA has been completing in preparation for conference. Here's what they had to say as more planning for the event is in progress:
“CWU FASA is currently still planning for conference! Since it is now being moved to Fall, we are planning to make more improvements on conference as whole - with all of the time we now have to make a better conference. We are also currently keeping up our meeting by hosting Zoom Meetings every Thursday! We’ve been doing our best to check-in with everyone and raise morale. Our mission is to strive to improve the educational and social aspects of the Central Washington University campus and surrounding communities of Filipino culture.” |
steven santosSteven was an amazing friend to many as well as the Cultural Chair of FASA sa UW Seattle. He was majoring in Physics and Astronomy and was due to graduate in winter quarter, then focusing his attention to direct Filipino Night. Despite his passing in January, FASA has promised to continue his legacy and had plans for the show to go on this May, although now the event will occur next year. Steven was a part of our NWFASA kapamilya and we would like to extend our love to his friends and family as well as everyone else he impacted within his lifetime. 💕

alliance meetingsThe past couple alliance meetings have been held on Zoom! To start April’s meeting, members participated in a scavenger hunt icebreaker that sent them running around their homes to find Filipino household items. Our Secretary of Events and Programming Malea Capuno led a workshop called “Self & Community Care” to start discussion on burnout, and then we proceeded with regular updates. Starting with the contingency plan for NWFASA conference, a new weekend was scheduled for November 20-22. We also discussed Kabataan Alliance’s Filipino American Youth Statement for COVID-19(read it here). Elections are coming up, which if you were nominated, you have until May 2 to accept or decline before elections on the 16th of May. Finally, NWFASA is making a yearbook! More updates to come-
